Let's be friends!
Afro-wearin’, globe trottin’, med student sharing the ups and downs of living life guided by Christ
Now that we've covered the highlights, let's go back to the basics... Hello! My name is Shelly :)
I was born and raised in PG County, Maryland but I will always call Jamaica my home. I graduated from Spelman College with a bachelor's in Health Sciences and I am currently pursuing my doctorate of medicine at UQ-Ochsner. I am passionate about global health equity and representation for underserved populations. I chose my medical school because it allowed me to spend my first two years of studying living abroad in Australia before returning to the states to finish my degree in New Orleans. I have loved having the opportunity to see how healthcare is done differently in other spaces and what kind of needs exist outside of my bubble in the US.

Australia is not the first place I've been away from home by myself! I signed up to study abroad on a whim after my sophomore year of college and found myself in Budapest, Hungary. This trip sparked my adoration for travel and within 3 years of that trip, I had traveled alone to 8 different countries!

Along with healthcare and travel, my biggest passion is relationships. With God, with family, with friends, with my pet cat, I desire for love to be at the center of everything I do — and I do a lot of things!
Let's start our own friendship today as we talk about everything from hospitals to hallelujahs and all that comes in between ♡
