Confession: I absolutely hate writing.
I want to start with this confession so that we can all keep our expectations LOW!
I love taking photos, making videos, and even stringing together a good Instagram caption; however, once you put those captions in blog format, I feel like they would fall short in length and expectations for what you would want to get out of a blog post.
With that said, for the past few months I have been challenging myself to make the space I take up on the internet as authentic as possible, and it all started with this video:
In this video, I touched on the idea that my YouTube channel, for very good reason, had never really felt like my own and how I am planning to spend the next several months working to change that. Since then, I have started the first season of my new favorite series "On God?" where I explore topics in the world and try to see them through the eyes of God. The theme for season one is "removing the plank from my own eye" because I wanted to use this as an opportunity to re-introduce myself to my audience in a new way.
It's been an interesting time and I may even write a blog post sharing what I've learned during the process, but planning these first six videos has make me realize I have a LOT to say and sometimes video is not the best format to say it in!
Although, I don't believe I will be calling myself a writer anytime soon, I want to challenge myself to embrace this aspect of creativity I've neglected thus far. Up unto this point, I have only written in academic settings or in personal journals; this means everything I have ever written, I was either seeking perfection or completely disregarding spelling mistakes because there was no audience to concern myself with.
This middle ground, where I can use first person pronouns but I also need to keep spell check on is completely new to me! I will be pushing my resolution to make my little corner of the internet my own even further then I had considered a few months ago.. and ya know? I'm starting to get excited about it!
